Welcome to our web site, and thanks for visiting. We desire to provide teaching, correction, encouragement, and ministry tools to the church. We hope our materials aid you in holiness, discipleship, worship, and evangelism. Let me begin our new relationship by sharing with you a pressing concern of mine. This will help you understand the tone of this ministry.
Obviously the world has embraced sin. What’s not so obvious is that it hasn’t rejected Christ. Of course, in an absolute sense the person who embraces sin rejects Christ. There is no way to simultaneously serve sin and God.
When I say that the world has embraced sin and has not rejected Christ, I am speaking of making conscious quality decisions in a context of truth and not deception. A context of truth provides all the facts necessary to decide correctly. Conversely, a context of deception is where Satan distorts reality so the sinner can’t see clearly to decide correctly. In this context, the world sees precious little of the biblical Jesus.
Read the book of Acts and witness the resurrected Christ among His people. Witness the constant flow of outstanding healings, deliverances, and answered prayers. Witness the sense of urgency in spreading the gospel. Witness the generosity and sense of community. Witness the uncompromising standard of holiness? Witness the fixation on eternal life, heaven, and the Day of Judgment. Is this what the world sees in our day? Tragically, the answer is no.
What it sees instead is a gross perversion of the gospel and a false presentation of Christ.
Unbelievers are not stupid. They can smell a scam. They see a great difference in the biblical Jesus and most of the modern American church. Jesus hated greed and covetousness; the church does not. Jesus denounced materialism; the church does not. Jesus valued people above religion; the church does not. Jesus hated racial discrimination; the church does not. Jesus highly esteemed women; the church does not. Jesus desired the outcasts of society; the church does not. Jesus loved the poor; the church does not. Jesus modeled humility; the church does not. Jesus healed the sick; the church does not. Jesus cast out demons; the church does not. Jesus worked with the Holy Spirit; the church does not.
The list could go on, but that’s unnecessary. The intent here is not to cast a thousand stones at the Lord’s church. Nor is it to indict and convict every local church of spiritual crimes. Obviously there are many good churches in
But here is the sad truth. The number of churches in this category is tragically small in comparison to the number that is not. The combined behavior of marginal and false churches steals the spotlight. When the world looks at itself and the church and sees little difference, it finds no compelling reason to believe what we say about Christ. We are losing the public relations battle not because the world does not want Christ, but because it doesn’t see Christ in us. Power Evangelism Ministries is our humble way of doing what we can to join others in reversing this trend.
Nonetheless, we know that many are determined to go to hell despite the best presentations and demonstrations of Christ offered them. It wouldn’t make a difference if Christ personally begged them to serve Him; they wouldn’t. They value the temporary pleasures of sin above eternal life. Yet we also know there are multitudes of others who would serve Christ if the church would only show Him as He really is. These are the people we hope to reach.
With the stakes as high as they are, we can’t afford to be politically correct. We must speak the truth. Some will judge our commentary offensive, combative, or possibly even judgmental. Certainly we don’t equate ourselves with Christ, but it is accurate to say Jesus was also accused of these things—He was crucified for these things! Still, our goal is not to be unnecessarily confrontational. It is simply to challenge the church (we include ourselves) to honestly examine its beliefs and practices.
We hope that you find our web site and ministry helpful. Our library has many free items. Read them, download them, share them with others.
God bless you!
