Another example of the ruthlessness of the modern financial tithe system. I received this email recently:
"Hello! I have always been a strong proponent of tithing, that is, until recently. I have very recently come to the realization that tithing as we are taught in church is unbiblical. I have been doing much research and cannot find one instance when we are commanded to tithe under the new covenant. I now believe in giving according to how the Lord has blessed us and our abilility to give and the leading of the Holy Spirit. I have been a leader in my church for a few years now. Up until now, I have been a leader in the Ladies' Ministry and in the Deliverance Ministry. I've just spoken with the leader overseeing the Deliverance Ministry and shared with her my findings about the tithe. I was told that I can no longer be a leader in deliverance and that I must go to the Pastor's wife, who is in charge of the Ladies' Ministry and let her know about my convictions since tithing is mandatory for leadership in our church. She said that if I don't go tell, then she will tell. I am willing to pay the price if it means that I will be staying true to Christ in my actions. I will likely need to find a new place of worship soon. Thank you for the work you are doing and your effort to remain true to God's Word. Blessings!"
There you have it. Sounds like the Spirit of Christ, doesn't it? Yeah, right.
